Products And Services

  • Cleaning & Sealing

Cleaning Travertine, Marble & Other Natural Stone. After time, tile builds up residue and dirt that cannot be removed with a daily cleaner, and may need professional cleaning. We use scrubbing machinery and specialty stone cleaners that clean your floor better than you thought possible. Sealing Travertine, Marble & Other Natural Stone The Stone Touch sealing process includes the masking of all wood (cabinets & baseboards), carpets, and appliances adjacent to the floor surface before the sealer is applied. Penetrating Sealers Stone Touch applies the highest quality penetrating sealers, which are correctly applied by our team of stone experts. Penetrating sealers leave no visible trace when applied correctly. If misapplied, they can leave a haze on the floor. Topical Acrylic Sealers Stone Touch uses acrylic sealers on some rough interior surfaces (such as slate and flagstone). This ensures that the stone looks beautiful, and is easy to maintain. Color Enhancing Sealers Stone Touch uses a color enhancing sealer to bring out the natural color variations of stones. It isn’t recommended on certain stone types nor on certain stone locations. Please talk to one of the natural stone experts on our team for more info.

  • Honing Stone

Honing natural stone leaves a smooth, satiny finish over your entire stone. Honing is a process that “sands” the surface of the stone to remove wear patterns from foot traffic, micro-scratching, and etching. Our process includes multiple passes over your floor with different levels of abrasion, which makes it just about impossible to make it look any better than the way we leave it. The end result is a beautiful! A honed floor can always be re-finished with a high polish to add a new look to an old floor.

  • Polishing

Polishing natural stone leaves a high gloss finish on the stone. It is a process that combines abrasion and pressure to shine the surface of the stone itself (similar to the glossy finish of a diamond). Don’t be fooled by products or companies that claim to “polish” your stone by applying a wax or acrylic to the surface of the stone. Though shiny when applied, these topical products wear away quickly, collect dirt, and cannot be removed without an expensive process (click here to learn more about “stripping”). A polished floor has a glassy look to it, and has a brilliant reflective shine. It can be restored again and again. It is timeless, elegant look. A polished floor can always be re-finished with a satiny honed finish to add a new look to an old floor.

  • Repairs

Often stone flooring can end up with small cracks, voids or pits along with missing grout. Cracks are somewhat inevitable when tiles are thin set to concrete foundations. Concrete, over time will almost always crack/shift and typically that crack is telegraphed through to the stone. Voids or pits are normal in travertine when the stone was formed deep below the earths surface. When the flooring factory makes the tiles by cutting the blocks of travertine stone, those voids are typically filled with epoxy resin then. Over time, these resins can fail and fall out of the tiles leaving small voids. Stone flooring, whether it be marble, limestone or travertine, can become scratched over time. Regardless if these scratches are caused by everyday life or maybe your favorite decorative planter got slid across your floor — damage in the form of deep scratches can occur. The Stone Touch crew can remove those scratches using diamond polishing pads and then matching the final surface to the rest of the flooring as required. Part of our standard process is to cosmetically refinish those blemishes by using color matched epoxies. Our crews will carefully match the color of the stone with different colored epoxies and then meticulously apply them into the blemished area. After the epoxy is dry, the finish in that area will be redone to match the rest of the flooring in your home.

  • Replacement

If you have a floor a tile that needs to be replaced because it has cracked beyond the repairs of a cosmetic refinish, we can remove that tile and replace it with a new tile. The only assumption is that you have some extra left over spare tiles at your home that we can use for the job. Sometimes we can find those replacement tiles out in the market place for you for an extra charge.

  • Stripping Stone

Unfortunately, there are many “professionals” that apply topical sealers and waxes to natural stone in order to create a shine. While this process does in fact leave a shine for a little while, it is not long before the wax begins to wear, collect dirt, and look really bad. Stone Touch has the expertise to remove the old waxes and sealers, and refinish the stone with a beautiful polished or honed finish, followed up with a professionally applied sealer.
